As a Principal Product Designer at ESRI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise. These two powerful products are designed to empower organizations across various industries with advanced mapping, analysis, and collaboration capabilities. In this position, you will collaborate with a talented team of designers and product developers to push the boundaries of design, ensuring that GIS content reaches organizations globally. Your work will directly impact thousands of users who leverage ArcGIS to make significant changes in their respective fields. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting and validating designs that enhance user experiences. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to iteratively design end-to-end user experiences using participatory techniques. This collaborative approach will allow you to coordinate with stakeholders to clearly identify requirements and specifications for both new and existing features, ensuring that the final product meets user needs and expectations. Your responsibilities will include developing personas, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes that guide product development. You will utilize various methods such as usability testing, surveys, and customer interviews to identify enhancements to product designs. Additionally, you will create and present comprehensive design solutions that address business, brand, and user requirements through wireframes and prototypes. As a leader in user-centered design principles, you will stay ahead of product design technologies and trends, conducting peer reviews, gathering usability feedback, and assessing the implementation of designs. Effective communication will be key in this role, as you will need to convey conceptual ideas, design rationale, and user-centered design processes to developers, engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional team members. Furthermore, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design environment.
