About the position

As a Principal Product Designer (UX/UI) at UBS, you will play a pivotal role in transforming user experiences across various enterprise functions. Your analytical and creative design skills will be essential in understanding user needs and solving complex problems. You will be responsible for driving innovation and delivering a market-leading user experience for employees, candidates, and clients alike. This position requires a deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies, allowing you to re-imagine existing experiences and introduce empathy into the design process. In this role, you will strategize, sketch, and design new products and features across multiple product teams. You will plan and facilitate ideation workshops, conduct usability testing, and translate user requirements and research into tangible design concepts. Your ability to create personas, journey maps, and storyboards will be crucial in bringing product concepts to life quickly. You will be comfortable sketching and wireframing design solutions while also focusing on making UI and data visualizations both beautiful and compelling. As an advocate for our design system, you will help develop scalable patterns and components that adhere to universal design principles and accessibility best practices. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with cross-functional agile team members to iteratively improve digital products and experiences. Additionally, you will provide mentorship and coaching to other designers on our team, promoting the business value of design across Group Functions at UBS.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize, sketch, and design new products and features across multiple product teams.
  • Plan and facilitate ideation workshops and conduct usability testing to align the product vision and fully understand user needs.
  • Translate user requirements and research into tangible design concepts using persona creation, journey mapping, and storyboarding.
  • Create wireframes and design solutions while ensuring UI and data visualizations are aesthetically pleasing and effective.
  • Advocate for the design system and develop scalable patterns and components that follow accessibility best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional agile team members to iteratively improve digital products and experiences.
  • Mentor and coach other designers, promoting the business value of design across the organization.

Requirements

  • Ideally 10 years' experience designing user-centered products and complex applications, particularly in corporate functions such as HR, Talent, Reward, and Operations.
  • An awe-inspiring portfolio that demonstrates your design process and ability to set an example for others.
  • Demonstrable strategic thinking and a thorough understanding of the product design process from research to design to implementation.
  • Good understanding of agile methodologies and integrating design with cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Obsessive attention to detail in storytelling, communication, wireframes, and UI designs.
  • Extensive experience using Figma, some experience using Miro, and a solid understanding of underlying technologies from collaborating with engineering teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a passion for mentoring and leading other designers.
