About the position

Yahoo is seeking a Senior Principal Product Designer to lead the redesign of its Search platform. This role involves envisioning user experiences and transforming complex tasks into intuitive designs for millions of users. The designer will collaborate with various teams to drive innovative initiatives and integrate new technologies, focusing on user-centric design principles and high-quality execution.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners and vertical teams to craft the long-term vision and strategy.
• Lead stakeholder discussions and presentations, run design reviews, sprints, and other rituals to drive alignment and influence.
• Lead end-to-end ideation, research, prototyping, and validation.
• Partner with the design systems team to define cohesive and scalable experiences.
• Set high standards for quality and help teams ship at that quality with minimal impact on velocity.
• Champion user-centric design principles and methodologies based on data and user insights.
• Be the voice for users and advocate for solving user problems.
• Partner closely with product and engineering leads to drive innovation.
• Change elevations quickly from high-level critical thinking to evaluating research, interaction, and design execution.
• Own project priorities and squad roadmap.
• Mentor, guide, and influence other designers on the team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product design experience or related field.
• Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Human Computer Interaction, graphic design, or other relevant field.
• A portfolio demonstrating high-quality work and expertise in designing successful product experiences.
• Deep knowledge of user experience methodologies, design principles, and frameworks.
• Proven track record in driving vision and shaping product experiences.
• Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data to balance user needs and business objectives.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Experience leading design projects across teams within an organization.
• A passion for mentoring and coaching other designers.
• A track record of delivering high-quality, innovative design solutions that users love.
• Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Origami, Webflow, and Adobe Creative Suite.
