About the position
The Principal Product Designer for the Workiva Platform is responsible for leading user experience strategy across multiple products, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on design. This role requires a deep understanding of user needs and the ability to create high-quality user experiences that enhance user satisfaction and business outcomes. The designer will mentor teams, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and ensure that user experiences align with business goals.
Responsibilities
- Understand and empathize with user needs and underlying requirements.
- Collaborate with the team to identify, define, and drive a product vision.
- Investigate known and discover unknown UX challenges.
- Engage with users, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to gather actionable feedback.
- Create and employ user personas to produce viable design ideas.
- Rapidly design, iterate, and validate user experience solutions.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to explore new approaches for optimal solutions.
- Create prototypes to determine the success of a solution and iterate post-launch.
- Mentor User Experience Designers and advocate for consistent user experiences.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional UX experience, shipping multiple successful products.
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
- A portfolio demonstrating expert design aptitude.
Nice-to-haves
- Demonstrated exceptional proficiency in user experience design, including lean user experience design and rapid prototyping.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong analytical skills to inform design decisions using data and analytics.
- Mastery of Figma for design and prototyping.

- Salary range in the US: $177,000.00 - $284,000.00
