About the position

The Principal Product Designer for the Workiva Platform is responsible for leading user experience strategy across multiple products, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on design. This role requires a deep understanding of user needs and the ability to create high-quality user experiences that enhance user satisfaction and business outcomes. The designer will mentor teams, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and ensure that user experiences align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Understand and empathize with user needs and underlying requirements.
• Collaborate with the team to identify, define, and drive a product vision.
• Investigate known and discover unknown UX challenges.
• Engage with users, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to gather actionable feedback.
• Create and employ user personas to produce viable design ideas.
• Rapidly design, iterate, and validate user experience solutions.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to explore new approaches for optimal solutions.
• Create prototypes to determine the success of a solution and iterate post-launch.
• Mentor User Experience Designers and advocate for consistent user experiences.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional UX experience, shipping multiple successful products.
• Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
• A portfolio demonstrating expert design aptitude.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated exceptional proficiency in user experience design, including lean user experience design and rapid prototyping.
• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Strong analytical skills to inform design decisions using data and analytics.
• Mastery of Figma for design and prototyping.
