About the position

The Principal Product Owner at Discover Financial Services is responsible for defining the product vision and prioritizing tasks to deliver customer value. This role involves assessing product performance, shaping product lines, and executing strategic product plans while managing risks and customer-impacting issues. The position emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains the product backlog, prioritizing items to achieve Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
• Participates in the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensures alignment with senior leadership.
• Creates and maintains key product documentation, including customer journey maps and technical specifications.
• Defines and executes strategic product roadmaps to build new products and enhance existing ones.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to align product vision, features, and roadmap.
• Defines functional and non-functional product requirements and ensures completeness.
• Partners with business technology to create technical features for system optimization.
• Monitors and analyzes key product performance metrics and develops recommendations for improvements.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.
• Empowers the product team to make decisions and manages dependencies across teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Product Management or Engineering in Financial Services or Tech Industry, or related.
• In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

• 4+ years of ServiceNow experience in Software Asset Configuration Management (SACM), ITSM, & CMDB.
• Agile Product Owner and/or Scrum certification.
• Strong leadership, exceptional communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience using JIRA.
