About the position

The Principal Product Owner at Medtronic will lead the advancement of existing technologies and the introduction of new therapies in the Digital Health sector. This role involves collaborating with key stakeholders to prioritize features, manage the product backlog, and ensure that the product aligns with customer needs and the overall HealthCast vision. The position emphasizes a customer-centric approach and requires building a culture of trust within the Digital Health organization.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for intake of needs from the Product Manager and closely connecting with the customer to understand the value and problem to solve.
• Connect with the customer to ensure the Agile Release are continually building the right things and building them right.
• In close partnership with Product Management, apply a customer-centric mindset along with design thinking tools to guide the product releases toward delivering solutions that are desirable, viable, feasible and sustainable.
• Understand from the Product Manager the themes prioritized, vision, product roadmap and definition of quantified value.
• Identify the problem to be solved, focusing on customer needs.
• Responsible for managing and prioritizing the team backlog and ensuring that it aligns to customer and stakeholder needs.
• Collaborate with the architects to define technical and design discovery required for a feature.
• Intake input/feedback/insights from customers, stakeholders, and the scrum team to evaluate value and make informed decisions.
• Responsible for maintaining the team backlog of defects, user stories and enablers.
• Define a feature and collaborate with the scrum team to elaborate on the stories encompassing the feature as a representative of the customer.
• Help innovate digital solutions in the medical and home care space by engaging Systems thinking.
• Collaborate on DH enabled initiatives to leverage cross-disciplinary and globally distributed teams to craft high-quality products and services.
• Collaborate with other leaders to ensure successful development, release, and launch of world-class products.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree required
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in systems, digital or software development or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience
• Previous experience in a Product Owner role

Nice-to-haves

• 10+ years experience in the medical device industry in systems, digital or software development with proven track record.
• Knowledge of the Agile methodology
• Experience in 5+ major product or portfolio releases.
• Experience in a regulated product industry
• Ability to quickly understand complex system behaviors, engineering problems, technical and architectural constraints.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an aptitude for convincing others of the value of their ideas.
