About the position

The Principal Program Budget Analyst II/III position is a critical role within the Department of Finance, responsible for overseeing the development, analysis, review, and formulation of recommendations regarding budgetary, fiscal, and policy matters. Under the general direction of the Assistant Program Budget Manager, the incumbent will supervise a team dedicated to ensuring that financial documents are prepared accurately and in compliance with established guidelines. This position serves as the primary contact for Finance with one or more departments, requiring the incumbent to develop expert fiscal and program knowledge in their assigned area. The role involves identifying policy and program issues that warrant program analysis projects, collaborating closely with assigned departments in the preparation of the Governor's Budget, and advising the Director of Finance and the Governor's Office on fiscal and policy decisions related to various programs and legislation. The incumbent will have the final authority to approve a wide range of financial documents that require Finance approval, ensuring that all financial activities align with the department's strategic objectives. Additionally, the Principal Program Budget Analyst will represent Finance at legislative hearings, advocating for the department's interests and providing expert testimony as needed. This position is designed for individuals who possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of budgetary processes, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a hybrid telework environment, balancing in-office responsibilities with remote work flexibility, while contributing to the overall mission of the Department of Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the development and analysis of budgetary and fiscal matters.
