About the position

The Principal Program Manager at Atlassian will play a crucial role in shaping the Program Management organization as a senior individual contributor. This position focuses on managing a critical Growth portfolio, collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering leaders to ensure successful program outcomes. The role requires a deep understanding of business strategy and the ability to align technical teams to accelerate program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of work in the Platform pillar in Growth, including specific end-to-end programs and managing an intake process.
  • Manage high-volume and high-complexity dependencies and risks between teams by aligning partners and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Report on success metrics for programs, including identifying and communicating major risks.
  • Partner with the leadership team on product and delivery strategy.
  • Guide, facilitate, and close technical discussions to unblock program outcomes.
  • Apply technical understanding to support and negotiate delivery timelines.
  • Advocate for change in program management and deliver best practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of program leadership experience on software teams as a Program Manager.
  • Experience leading projects spanning multiple teams in multiple timezones.
  • Ability to create and hold accountability for project schedules.
  • Skill in making critical decisions quickly to keep projects on track.
  • Experience in tracking and managing risks and dependencies.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with teams and partners.
  • Collaborative approach to evolve standards, engineering processes, and developer productivity tools.
  • Experience using metrics to improve software development processes for cloud/SaaS teams.
  • Experience working with experimentation teams, specifically A/B testing.
  • Foundational technical knowledge to work effectively with engineering teams.
