About the position

The Principal Project Industrial Engineer at Northrop Grumman will support all industrial engineering needs for designated programs, providing a system-level view and acting as the primary liaison between the programs and the Industrial Engineering team. This role involves capacity analysis, continuous improvement activities, resource planning, and system process development, ensuring efficient manufacturing operations and supporting program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support all industrial engineering related needs for designated programs.
  • Provide a system level view to the program(s) and act as the primary liaison between the program(s) and the Industrial Engineering team.
  • Monitor capital resource loading and develop plans for capacity management.
  • Lead program capacity analysis and reviews.
  • Conduct Floor Space Capacity and Workbench Utilization analyses.
  • Work with program to develop and maintain IMS schedules.
  • Provide system level view of cycle time and lead time.
  • Contribute to analyses to determine tooling or manpower requirements.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes for opportunities to control/reduce cost, minimize scrap, control inventory, increase capacity, and/or optimize schedule.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement activities (e.g. 5-S, VSM, Kaizen, 6-Sigma).
  • Work with program to load and maintain forecast schedule.
  • Evaluate future demand to determine Operations resource requirements.
  • Develop process flows and conceptual layouts for all levels of the products.
  • Support development of process simulation models to evaluate process design.
  • Optimize system flow between cells across the site.
  • Lead facility project execution for Manufacturing.
  • Prepare and deliver executive level presentations to operations and program leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams as an interface between program and operations to support program objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or other STEM area.
  • 5 years of relevant experience; candidates with a Master's degree and 3 years of experience will be considered.
  • Industrial Engineering experience or Manufacturing experience.
