About the position

The Project Engineer role at Regeneron involves designing, specifying, and commissioning biopharmaceutical process and clean utility equipment. The position supports the production of life-changing medications by providing engineering support and leading investigations for existing equipment and processes. The role requires managing mid-to-large sized projects, preparing engineering documentation, and collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with cGMP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and specifying cGMP process equipment, piping, and controls.
  • Managing mid-to-large sized projects related to process equipment and clean utilities, including start-up and commissioning.
  • Assisting in and leading the design review, site acceptance, and installation of equipment.
  • Preparing piping and instrumentation diagrams and other related drawings.
  • Developing Process Flow Diagrams for manufacturing processes.
  • Supporting QA/Validation department by preparing design documents and assisting in protocol execution.
  • Assisting in investigations of process equipment, utility systems, and control system anomalies, as well as safety incidents.
  • Implementing corrective/preventative actions for existing equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Preparing engineering evaluations and test plans for modification change control documentation.
  • Supervising mechanical, electrical, and automation contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering or Biochemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience for Senior Project Engineer role.
  • 8+ years of experience for Principal Project Manager - Engineering role.
  • Direct experience with biopharmaceutical process equipment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering documentation required for cGMP process equipment and sanitary equipment design requirements.
  • Solid understanding of process control systems and automation.
  • Skilled at planning and tracking project activities and schedules.
  • Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal and cross-cultural communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of biopharmaceutical equipment, including filling, device assembly, label, and packaging equipment.
  • Interest in having a broad scope with a variety of tasks.
  • Desire to contribute to design work by specifying and translating customer needs into equipment.
  • Ability to balance technical and project management skills.
