About the position

The Principal Research Analyst will lead and execute complex research projects that drive business success at EFG. This role requires a seasoned professional who can navigate data intricacies and translate findings into actionable insights. The analyst will be responsible for defining research objectives, methodologies, and deliverables while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure impactful outcomes. This position also involves mentoring junior analysts and fostering a culture of innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead research initiatives from conception through execution, ensuring a focus on bottom-line business impact.
  • Define clear research objectives, methodologies, deliverables, and timelines for each project.
  • Drive collaboration and communication among team members and stakeholders to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Generate data-driven hypotheses and design rigorous experiments to test.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage new data sources, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the team’s research capabilities.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights and prescribe recommendations that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Develop an expert understanding of the business while forming partnerships and building trust with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Influence stakeholders to implement research-driven solutions and track KPIs to measure their impact.
  • Serve as the technical lead for the Research Analytics team, sharing best practices and driving continuous improvement.
  • Mentor analysts in data analysis, advanced statistical techniques, and research methodologies.
  • Review and provide feedback on team members' work, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in analytics, research, and data science, and share knowledge with the team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a research analyst or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and executing large, complex research projects with significant, measurable business outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in hypothesis formulation and experimental design, including T-tests, Chi-Square, ANOVA, A/B testing, Random Control Trials, matched pairs, crossover design, etc.
  • Experience writing white papers and contributing to research publications that have influenced thought leadership.
  • Proven track record of identifying and leveraging internal and external data assets that enable innovative research.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data extraction, transformation, cleaning, and analysis.
  • Extensive experience conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on large-scale data sets to reveal patterns and detect anomalies.
  • Expert knowledge and application of advanced statistical methods, such as regression (linear & logistic), time series, non-parametric analysis, clustering, Bayesian inference, etc.
  • Adept at analyzing diverse data sets, including transactional, clickstream, social media, survey, unstructured text, geospatial, and more.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences in a clear, compelling manner.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, mitigate risks, and manage stakeholder expectations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Past experience in the Esports/Gaming/Betting/Events industry would be a great asset.
