The Principal Research Scientist II, AI / ML Team Lead at AbbVie is a leadership role focused on integrating advanced AI and machine learning methodologies into the computational drug discovery process. Responsibilities

• Contribute to the scientific and strategic incorporation of AI/ML tools into existing CDD workflows.
• Interface closely with CDD members to identify opportunities for incorporating AI/ML strategies to enhance drug discovery contributions.
• Collaborate with experts to leverage external innovation and manage research collaborations.
• Make informed decisions based on data review and analysis.
• Manage multiple projects within the AI/ML team to drive pipeline science.
• Identify, develop, optimize, validate, and deploy innovative methods for data mining and molecular design using AI/ML models.
• Interface with IT infrastructure teams to ensure effective deployment of AI/ML capabilities.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Computational Chemistry or related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in scientific research, particularly in AI/ML applications.
• Strong managerial experience leading scientific research teams.
• Proven track record of high-impact scientific achievements and publications.
• Established network with key opinion leaders in machine learning and computational research.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art modeling, simulation, and machine learning technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data applications in drug discovery.
