About the position

The Principal Research Scientist, Scientific Architecture at AbbVie is a leadership role focused on driving digital transformation within the Development Sciences (Dev Sci) team. This position involves collaborating with scientists and leaders to identify and execute use cases that automate scientific workflows and enhance data management capabilities. The role requires a strong background in biological sciences and data systems, with a focus on improving the accessibility and usability of scientific data.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Dev Sci scientists and leaders to implement Digital Transformation Use Cases aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate use-case teams to achieve consensus on scientific and data architecture.
  • Drive digitization and automation of Dev Sci scientific workflows.
  • Advise and share knowledge with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of results that advance Dev Sci Digital Transformation.
  • Communicate the vision and progress of Digital Transformation to promote data sharing and decision-making.
  • Present complex data and digital workflow concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Drive effective implementation and utilization of systems by articulating benefits and risks.
  • Provide input to shape the Use Case roadmap for Dev Sci data architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science-related field with 12+ years of related work experience; or a Master's Degree with 10+ years; or a PhD with 6 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with scientific workflows and associated data.
  • Strong blend of scientific experience in Biological Sciences and IT/data analytics skills.
  • Ability to lead diverse groups and maintain strong relationships with collaborators.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in business and scientific contexts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
