About the position

CNA is seeking a Principal Research Scientist to lead complex research projects within the Energy, Infrastructure, and Environment (EIE) program under the Resources & Force Readiness (RFR) division. This role involves significant business development responsibilities, managing client relationships, and operating as a senior researcher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research and analysis, with a focus on delivering high-quality, data-driven solutions to support the Navy and Marine Corps.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects addressing complex analytic problems for clients/sponsors.
  • Support the development of other staff and contribute to project teams.
  • Produce high-quality analysis consistently.
  • Leverage expertise to enhance CNA's reputation with clients/sponsors.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of clients/sponsors and their issues.
  • Pursue business development opportunities and develop new clients/sponsors.
  • Write competitive proposals and support marketing efforts.
  • Communicate complex analytic results clearly to various audiences.
  • Lead significant projects or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Mentor and serve as a role model for other staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum Master's degree in relevant field; PhD preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in research and analysis.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation is desirable.
  • Expertise with large datasets is a plus.
  • Accreditation as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply leading-edge principles to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and develop original solutions.
  • Experience in managing projects, contracts, and resources effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with large datasets.
  • Accreditation as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA).
