The Principal Revenue Management Data Science Analyst at Carnival Cruise Line is responsible for conceptualizing and creating advanced demand monitoring and customer behavior models. This role involves maintaining, enhancing, and improving the accuracy and effectiveness of existing model performance. The analyst will provide consulting advice and tools to improve revenue management analyst performance and revenue maximization, utilizing scientific models to support executive reporting and budget/revenue forecasting. Essential functions of this position include developing and enhancing a variety of mathematical models, which encompasses data collection, analysis, prototyping, testing, creation of production systems, and development of performance metrics. The analyst will monitor model performance, recalibrate, maintain, and recommend design enhancements. Additionally, the role requires developing tools and reports for analysts and management to monitor business trends, forecasts, and customer behavior. The analyst will also aid upper management through ad hoc analyses to address various business-related questions and consult/train analysts and management on the use of scientific models and tools. To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess a Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, Decision Sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of experience is preferred, ideally within a large corporation practicing revenue management or in academic research on revenue management models and systems. The candidate should have experience in building mathematical models utilizing Data Mining, Operations Research, and Statistics techniques, and be proficient in SQL, Python, SAS/SPSS/R, and Tableau desktop. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work well across teams and move projects forward with minimal guidance. They should have the ability to lead medium-to-large sized efforts from inception to completion and understand how various models interact across different subject areas. Strong communication skills are essential, as the analyst must convey complex modeling concepts in easy-to-understand business terminology across various levels of users. The role also requires the ability to define business problems, assess the effectiveness of various modeling approaches, and create structure when existing structures do not already exist.
