About the position

The Principal RF Communication Engineer I at CesiumAstro is responsible for developing innovative communication systems for satellites and airborne platforms. This role involves collaborating with technical and strategy teams to create algorithms and technologies that address complex challenges in wireless communications, with a strong emphasis on research, analysis, and testing of satellite systems.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with technical and strategy teams to prioritize and develop new algorithms and technologies.
• Conduct research and analysis to solve problems in wireless communications.
• Develop and test satellite communication systems.
• Communicate effectively with team members and internal stakeholders.
• Author technical content and documentation.
• Define work direction, track milestones, and demonstrate progress on projects.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of R&D experience in space communications with a Master's; 3 years with a Doctorate.
• Strong background in digital signal processing, statistics, linear algebra, communication theory, machine learning, and L1/L2 algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting and one programming language (ideally Python & C++).
• Deep understanding of RF concepts and impairments affecting baseband processing.
• Experience with FPGA and modern vector processing engines.
• Knowledge of satellite-communications standards (NR NTN, DVB-S2x, CCSDS).
• Ability to carry out independent research and collaborate with a team.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Ability to hold a security clearance.
