Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal RF Design Electrical Engineer to join our Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) group in Melbourne, FL. This role is pivotal in developing and certifying commercial avionics products for the Air Transport and Business and Regional aircraft markets. As a Principal RF Design Engineer, you will leverage your RF design skills to contribute to the next generation of avionics products, ensuring safe aircraft landings even in adverse weather conditions. You will work closely with a small, collaborative team of hardware Electrical Design Engineers, focusing on both new product development and sustaining support for legacy products. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and analyzing electrical design requirements, designing and prototyping circuits, and analyzing circuit performance using simulation tools such as Spice and ADS. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, debugging, and testing digital, analog, and RF circuits. You will also oversee PCB layouts, support design drawings development, and own the build, debug, and test processes for digital and mixed-signal circuits. Conducting circuit tests using lab equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers will be part of your daily tasks, along with developing verification test plans and procedures to ensure compliance with specified requirements. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work with various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing & Test Engineering, and Safety & Reliability Engineering, to ensure robust designs and appropriate testability. Additionally, you will support product certification activities, including FAA TSO and customer-specific requirements. This position requires a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple teams, organizations, suppliers, and customers to achieve common goals.
