About the position

The Principal Scientist will lead the Vaccine Analytical Research and Development team, focusing on solving complex analytical problems to support vaccine process and formulation development. This role requires collaboration with the group Director and involves mentoring scientists while driving laboratory development and execution of analytical methods. The position emphasizes strong leadership, effective communication, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver impactful scientific solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of scientists applying analytical methods to support vaccine process development, formulation development, and vaccine characterization.
  • Apply strong analytical capabilities for analysis of large molecules and vaccines, including method development and troubleshooting.
  • Author and review scientific documents such as development reports and analytical method protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, providing technical input for team decisions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry/biochemistry or related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, or M.S. with 12 years, or B.S. with 16 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent through mentoring.
  • Strong initiative, creativity, and innovation in problem-solving.
  • Experience with analysis of large molecules and vaccines, including virus-like particles.
  • Experience with analytical method development and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver complex objectives under tight timelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Established scientific reputation supported by publications and external presentations.
  • Familiarity with ICH guidelines for analytical procedure validation and transfer.
  • Experience with assay robustness evaluation and method validation or qualification.
  • Solid computer skills and experience with automated laboratory instrumentation.
