About the position

As a Principal Scrum Master at Actalent, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of classified programs and technologies that are vital to our nation's defense. This position offers you the unique opportunity to work closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leadership, Product Owners, and fellow Scrum Masters to ensure that development priorities are aligned and that cross-team issues are resolved efficiently. You will lead sprint and increment planning sessions, facilitating communication and coordination across various teams and disciplines. Your leadership will be crucial in driving the agile process and ensuring that the teams are effectively meeting their goals. In addition to your Scrum Master responsibilities, you will also engage in hands-on software development, dedicating at least 50% of your time to coding and software design. This dual role allows you to stay connected with the technical aspects of the projects while guiding your teams through the agile process. You will collaborate with talented engineers, architects, and leaders in a dynamic Agile environment, gaining exposure to advanced software technologies and techniques, including multi-tiered architectures, AWS web services, and microservice software design. This position not only allows you to contribute to significant defense projects but also provides a flexible work environment where you can adapt to evolving customer and warfighter needs. You will learn about modern DevSecOps practices, software lifecycle management for large-scale defense projects, and satellite ground system technologies, including command and telemetry, flight dynamics, planning and scheduling, and spacecraft operations.

  • Work with talented teams of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Agile metrics such as backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Strong coding ability using Java, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Understanding of software engineering processes and best practices.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in object-oriented design.
