About the position

The Principal / Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman will be part of the Test & Evaluation team in Melbourne, FL, focusing on the full product lifecycle of software development and testing. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication and collaboration abilities. The engineer will engage in technical planning, system integration, and analysis to ensure the effectiveness and supportability of systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyzing total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and sustainment.
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of experience, or a Master of Science degree and 3 years of experience, or a PhD with no experience for Principal level.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of experience, or a Master of Science degree and 6 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience for Senior Principal level.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR).
  • Current DoD 8570 Level 2 Certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Demonstrated experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
  • Experience managing operating systems (Windows Server and desktop environments).
  • Experience implementing access controls and utilizing monitoring tools for security incidents.
  • Proficiency in web application administration with a focus on performance issue resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Splunk, Nessus, and/or SolarWinds.
  • Experience with Atlassian, Jira, Coverity, and Fortify.
  • Experience working with DevOps Processes and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Systems administration experience, including Windows, Linux, and VM environments.
  • Understanding of enterprise-level computing platforms involving virtualization, distribution, and high availability.
