About the position

The Principal Software Architect at Airbus Robotics will play a crucial role in the Engineering team, focusing on the design and architecture of complex software systems that support automated aircraft manufacturing. This position requires high-level decision-making and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions align with system goals and constraints. The role emphasizes leadership in software development, guiding teams towards building scalable and maintainable applications.

Responsibilities

  • Make high-level decisions regarding the design and architecture of complex software systems in support of automated aircraft manufacturing systems.
  • Set the technical direction for complex software projects, creating foundational blueprints for development teams.
  • Interface with project managers, PMO, and customers to understand user stories and desired product functionality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into system design.
  • Lead the architectural aspects of software development and provide guidance to development teams.
  • Develop high-level software in a mixed computing environment focusing on embedded Linux, security, and data management.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 11-17 years of experience in software engineering, or a combination of PhD and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in crafting high-level design choices and frameworks for software applications.
  • Experience in preparing software schedules and budgets, with the ability to forecast effort for complex software development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work within a multidisciplinary engineering development team.
  • Demonstrated discipline and organization in software maintenance and version management.
  • Experience with agile project management methods and tools, including Jira.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification.
