About the position

The Principal Software Architect at Airbus Robotics is responsible for making high-level decisions regarding the design and architecture of complex software systems that support automated aircraft manufacturing. This role involves setting the technical direction for software projects, collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into system designs, and leading the architectural aspects of software development.

Responsibilities

• Make high-level decisions regarding the design and architecture of complex software systems in support of automated aircraft manufacturing systems.
• Set the technical direction for complex software projects, laying the foundational blueprint for development teams.
• Interface with PMs, PMO, and customers to understand user stories and desired functionality of products.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into system design.
• Lead the architectural aspects of software development and provide guidance to development teams.
• Develop high-level software in a mixed computing environment focusing on embedded Linux, security, and data management.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• 11-17 years of experience in software engineering, or a combination of PhD and experience.
• Five or more years of experience crafting high-level design choices and frameworks for software applications.
• Experience preparing software schedules and budgets, with the ability to forecast effort for complex software development.
• Interpersonal skills to work within a multidisciplinary engineering development team.
• Demonstrated discipline and organization in software maintenance and version management.
• Experience with agile project management methods and tools, including Jira.

Nice-to-haves

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification.
