About the position

The Principal Software Architect will lead the digital transformation efforts at the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, focusing on Microsoft Azure. This senior technical role is responsible for the architectural design, software solutions, and delivery of services across various platforms, including ERP and .NET Blazor applications. The Architect will ensure scalable, secure, and optimized cloud infrastructure that aligns with business needs while mentoring team members and establishing best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Continue the development and implementation of a comprehensive Microsoft Azure cloud strategy to support the organization's goals.
  • Design cloud infrastructure solutions that ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Create architectural blueprints (Archi) and standards for cloud adoption, including networking, storage, compute, security, and application deployment on Azure.
  • Conduct research, technical analysis, and prototyping to solve business challenges and facilitate technical modernization.
  • Establish best practices for cloud governance, ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement security controls, managing risks related to cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with the security team to ensure robust data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Analyze and optimize cloud costs, identifying areas for efficiency and ensuring cloud usage aligns with budgetary constraints.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in cloud architecture, specifically with Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and .NET Blazor applications.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable cloud solutions.
  • Experience in establishing cloud governance and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical skills to optimize cloud costs and ensure ROI.

Nice-to-haves
