About the position

The Principal Software Architect at Microsoft will lead the design and implementation of complex, cloud-based systems within the Health & Life Sciences Solutions engineering team. This role focuses on creating innovative solutions powered by Microsoft Azure and AI, aimed at transforming healthcare applications. The architect will oversee system architecture discussions, ensure coding standards, and guide project implementation while fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, influence, and own design discussions for the overall system architecture of complex products/solutions.
• Create proposals for architecture and design documents, leading testing of hypotheses and proposed solutions.
• Provide technical leadership during code reviews to ensure quality standards are met.
• Break down long-term project vision into milestones and guide project estimation.
• Lead the creation of implementation frameworks and ensure safe deployment of solutions.
• Design and integrate telemetry systems to provide feedback on system behavior.
• Share knowledge and teach practices about new tools and strategies to other engineers.
• Initiate and maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, React, or Python.
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing complex, interdependent cloud-based systems.
• Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 12+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in relevant languages.
