About the position

Quanterix is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Software Architect to join our Software Engineering team in Billerica, MA. This role is pivotal in advancing our mission to digitize biomarker analysis, which is essential for enhancing precision health. The Principal Software Architect will be responsible for the architecture and development of high-level image analysis code, utilizing object-oriented software to analyze samples through multiplexed immunofluorescence. This position requires a strong understanding of both Windows 10 and Linux operating systems, as well as proficiency in various programming languages including C++, C#, .NET, Java, and JavaScript. In this role, the Principal Software Architect will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, R&D researchers, product support engineers, and scientists to create a seamless image analysis workflow. This workflow will not only allow users to view imagery but also generate comprehensive reports based on the analysis. The individual will also be responsible for documenting project features, troubleshooting defects, and prioritizing activities in conjunction with other team members and stakeholders. Leadership and mentoring of junior software developers will be a key aspect of this role, as well as participating in code and design reviews to ensure high-quality software development. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. Experience with cloud-based software development and familiarity with the Diagnostic/Biotech industry will be considered advantageous. The Principal Software Architect will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Quanterix's technology, which is already making significant strides in early disease detection and improved treatment methods across various therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

  • Primary owner for the architecture and the development of high-level image analysis code in object-oriented software for the image analysis of samples.
  • Develop & Architect software that provides users with an image analysis workflow for analyzing samples with multiplexed immunofluorescence.
  • Utilize the feature/defect tracking system along with other SW team members, project managers, hardware engineers, and scientists to document project features, triage and troubleshoot defects, and prioritize activities.
  • Lead and participate in Quanterix software code and design reviews.
  • Coordinate code development with contract resources.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior SW developers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science required.
  • 10-15 years of experience with object-oriented software including C++, C#, .NET, Java, and JavaScript.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with front-end frameworks like CSS, JavaScript, HTML, React or Angular.
  • Knowledge of the Windows 10 & Linux operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based software development.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental software concepts, including the software development life cycle, concurrent programming, object-oriented programming, functional programming, database storage, data structures, server/client model.
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience with Intel's MKL and image processing.
  • Experience with the Swing library in Java.
  • Knowledge of computation calculation.
  • Experience in Jira management, or equivalent bug tracking tools.
  • Experience in the Diagnostic/Biotech industry and knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11.
