About the position

The Principal Software Architect role within Microsoft's Cybersecurity & Trust Engineering (CSTE) team focuses on defining the technical direction and product strategy for customer security initiatives. This position requires a strong background in software development, architecture, and cybersecurity, with responsibilities that include collaborating across teams to design innovative applications and managing competing priorities. The role emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and accountability, aligning with Microsoft's mission to empower individuals and organizations globally.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical direction, roadmap, goals, and product strategy for CST and CELA.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to prioritize workstreams across functional areas.
  • Spearhead the development of architectural patterns for resilient, scalable, and secure cloud services.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while prioritizing workload effectively.
  • Conduct technical architecture reviews and support security and risk assessments as a trusted advisor.
  • Partner with various Microsoft departments to ensure coordinated management of engineering dependencies.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of software industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C#, C++, and JavaScript.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting highly scalable workloads in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience in delivering complex initiatives across organizational boundaries.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Cybersecurity.
  • 4+ years of experience with agile delivery methodologies using Azure DevOps.
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud Security and Controls.
  • Experience with deploying cloud security guardrails and controls.
  • Experience with programming or query languages like PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, SQL.
  • Proven experience with real-time data ingestion and analysis technologies.
