About the position

As a Principal Software Developer (PSD) at BECU, you will be responsible for delivering innovative software solutions that enhance the member experience. This role involves collaborating with various teams to drive technical design and mentor peers, all while working in a flexible, remote environment. Your contributions will play a crucial role in BECU's technology transformation and commitment to superior financial services.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cutting-edge software solutions that align with BECU's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop prototypes and address business challenges through technical insights.
  • Present technical work and ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, establishing thought leadership.
  • Maintain an industry presence and represent BECU's technical capabilities in the broader community.
  • Lead the analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation of complex systems.
  • Set and enforce coding standards and best practices across teams to ensure code quality.
  • Inspire innovation and coordinate technical strategies to improve technology across the organization.
  • Mentor team members and foster a collaborative learning environment.
  • Act as a consultant for complex technical issues and ensure efficient resolution.
  • Continuously explore new technologies to enhance BECU's capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years in information technology with expertise in application design.
  • Experience with financial products such as Mortgage, Loan, Credit Card, and Deposits.
  • Knowledge of Secure Development best practices and scalable solutions in a polyglot environment.
  • Proficiency in .NET, C#, Node.js, modern JavaScript frameworks (TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Angular), or Python.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Expertise in server-side and client-side web development, REST/web services, data analytics with Machine Learning, or networking.
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles, Object-Oriented Programming, SOA, and distributed systems design.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud-hosted SQL datastores.
