About the position

The Principal Software Engineer for Computer Vision / AI at Everguard, Inc. is responsible for developing and maintaining applications that leverage advanced machine learning and computer vision technologies. This role involves collaboration with field engineers, code maintenance, rapid prototyping, and ensuring that software aligns with project objectives. The position is remote for candidates outside of Southern California and requires a strong background in computer science and extensive experience in the field.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain applications for computer vision and artificial intelligence.
• Work alongside field engineers to test and troubleshoot systems for optimal performance.
• Refactor and maintain existing code to enhance functionality and efficiency.
• Conduct rapid prototyping (PoC) and integrate software with hardware solutions.
• Engage in requirements analysis, architecture development, and software design to ensure alignment with project objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
• 8+ years in computer vision and machine learning, with proven experience leading product development or R&D projects.
• Proficient in Python and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with AWS, Git, and Docker.
• Familiarity with Linux OS.
• Understanding of parallel computing and TCP/IP networking.
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in startup environments.
• Knowledge of sensor and IoT technologies.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
• Familiarity with REST APIs.
