About the position

The Principal Software Engineer for Digital Health Mobile Platforms at Medtronic is responsible for leading the design and development of advanced mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms. This role focuses on enhancing patient engagement and care coordination through innovative software solutions, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that improve clinical and patient experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and configure systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards.
• Architect, design, and develop advanced mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
• Integrate RESTful APIs and AWS-based microservices with back-end developers.
• Identify system functionality or performance deficiencies and execute changes to correct them.
• Document testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations.
• Act as a liaison with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions.
• Strategically design technology solutions that meet the needs and goals of the company and its customers/users.
• Test the quality of a product and its ability to perform a task or solve problems.
• Perform basic maintenance and performance optimization procedures in primary operating systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 7+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree.

• Proficient in Swift and Objective-C
• Strong understanding of iOS frameworks such as UIKit, HealthKit, ResearchKit, etc.

• Experience building software classified as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
• Understanding of EHR technologies such as EPIC, Cerner, etc.
• Experience implementing enterprise-grade cybersecurity & privacy by design into software products
• Experience working in Digital Health software
• Experience developing global applications
• Strong understanding of SDLC - Waterfall & Agile methodologies
• Experience leading software development teams onshore and offshore.
