About the position

The Principal Software Engineer - Global Software Engineer position at Northrop Grumman involves working on the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which integrates the Missile Defense System. This role focuses on software development primarily using Java, requiring the ability to work independently or in small teams within a dynamic environment. The engineer will be responsible for complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, and user support for a large code baseline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software using Java following coding standards and best practices.
  • Perform complex problem resolution and provide technical support for a distributed system.
  • Design, code, test, and implement automation tools.
  • Interface with other system support groups to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
  • Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Develop and modify functionality within the code according to specifications.
  • Experience with message translation software and automated test development.
  • Design and develop microservices and set up container environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance.
  • Experience working as part of an Agile team.
  • Familiarity with Java Spring and containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
  • Experience developing enterprise applications and automated test scripts.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in an engineering-focused discipline.
  • Current and active TS/SCI clearance.
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher.
