About the position

The Principal Software Engineer - Hardware Security role involves leading the development of secure firmware and software solutions for various products and services within the Azure Enterprise and Security group. The position focuses on leveraging hardware security technologies to protect customer data and devices, ensuring compliance with security standards while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to design, develop, and deliver security firmware and software solutions that achieve security, reliability, scalability, performance, and efficiency for products and services.
  • Represent the company in security industry standard organizations such as Trusted Computing Group for technology specification discussions and modifications.
  • Integrate other industry standards into product and technology planning.
  • Define project engineering plans and execute to deliver with a focus on accountability, learning, and quality.
  • Mentor and grow team members' engineering culture and career.
  • Guide the team to develop excellent engineering practices and ensure products comply with security, privacy, accessibility, and other compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate and assess emerging technologies in hardware security and related areas, partnering with product management, customers, and other teams to define requirements, develop roadmaps, and scope project milestones.
  • Focus on diversity and inclusiveness to enable creative solutions to challenging problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Rust, Java, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven track record for collaboration between multiple teams and delivering results.
  • Experience in standard groups such as TCG.

  • Experience with Rust programming language and toolchain.
  • Experience with computer security and cryptography.
  • Experience with hardware/firmware/driver development.
  • Experience with Windows operating system architecture.
