About the position

The Principal Software Engineer will play a crucial role in the development of the Opal Mapping system, which creates a real-time virtual model of the human heart for medical applications. This position requires a strong background in computer science, image processing, and machine learning, focusing on architecting and developing algorithms that enhance the system's performance. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, mission-critical products that prioritize patient safety and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop image processing algorithms.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to improve the image processing system.
  • Solve complex problems and strive for engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate with marketing, systems engineering, QA, hardware, and regulatory teams to understand requirements and deliver optimal solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong background in computer science, preferably a BS/MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience programming in C++.
  • Experience with image processing libraries such as OpenCV.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful mission-critical products.
  • Broad and deep technology experience in image processing and machine learning.
  • Strong experience in systems development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
  • Expertise in developing software using scrum methodology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience architecting, designing, and implementing medical device software.
  • Experience writing software for embedded systems that interface with sensors.
