The Software organization is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. The Principal Software Engineer in the Advanced Technology department of the Software Engineering Directorate will serve as the Product Owner (PO) for a team developing tactical seeker flight software capabilities for major Advanced Technology missile programs. This individual needs to be a proven real-time Embedded Software Development Subject Matter Expert with a recent track record of successfully designing and developing flight software and providing technical leadership. The Seeker Software PO is responsible for managing all cost, schedule, planning, and execution for Software Engineering activities for the Mission Software Product team. These activities include but are not limited to Estimate at Completion Reviews (EACs), agile backlog development, staffing projections, and biweekly metrics. In addition, the PO will serve as a Software Engineering interface to the customer community, program management, and other stakeholders. The PO is responsible for leading the team to execute all stages of software development and testing for software builds to meet software delivery milestones on a fast-paced schedule. This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Apply expertise in software development for embedded multi-processor systems.
• Lead the execution of all assigned software work scope, determine the allocation of personnel within the team to perform that work, and review and approve any software contract deliverables before delivery to the program stakeholders.
• Work within an agile framework to lead development of software backlogs, plans, and metrics.
• Support continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools.
• Represent interests of the Software Engineering Directorate, with extensive interaction with the Chief Product Owner, Product Owners, Software Architect, and Chief Engineers.
• Develop a team capable of delivering embedded real-time tactical flight software products with firmware interfaces including radar signal processing capabilities.
• Coordinate with the Chief Product Owner for Software Engineering and software development, software integration, software test planning, coordination, execution, and reporting activities.
• Identify, establish, and implement best practices and lessons learned.
• Represent the Raytheon Software Engineering team to the customer during regular programmatic and technical meetings.
• Utilize agile software development methods, automation, and continuous integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and 8+ years of engineering experience in embedded software engineering.
• Experience developing, integrating, testing, or verifying real-time embedded C++ software with a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) (e.g., Wind River VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity, etc.).
• Experience supporting missile system software design, requirements, development, integration, or test.
• Experience leading a software team in a technical capacity including planning and execution.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working on a development program using agile/scrum and devOps or test automation including an all-digital simulation for testing.
• Experience integrating embedded radar signal processing software capabilities for a missile.
• Experience designing and architecting real-time embedded software on multi-core systems including requirements development and verification.
• Experience using scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Perl, etc.).
• Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certified or Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience.
