About the position

At Boston Scientific, we are seeking a Principal Software Engineer/Scrum Master to join our dynamic and innovative team focused on the Opal Mapping system, a cutting-edge technology that creates a real-time virtual model of the human heart. This dual role combines the responsibilities of a software engineer and a scrum master, allowing you to lead the team while also engaging in hands-on software development. You will be instrumental in architecting, designing, and developing high-performance medical device software that is critical for patient safety and product quality. In this role, you will organize and facilitate all scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. You will provide technical leadership to the team, ensuring adherence to best practices in software development methodologies. Your expertise in C++, OpenGL, GLSL, OpenCL, Qt, and Linux will be essential as you tackle complex problems and strive for engineering excellence. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including marketing, systems engineering, QA, hardware, and regulatory, will be key to understanding requirements and delivering optimal solutions. The Opal Mapping system is at the forefront of electrophysiology, providing physicians with instant feedback through high-performance rendering and algorithmic techniques. Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate all scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Architect, design, develop and release innovative high-performance medical device software.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team in software architecture and best-in-class software development methodologies and practices.
  • Solve difficult problems and always strive to make things better and achieve engineering excellence.
  • Partner with other teams including marketing, systems engineering, QA, hardware, and regulatory to understand requirements and bring the best solutions forward.

Requirements

  • Certified Scrum Master with previous experience in a scrum master role.
  • A strong CS background, preferably BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with having delivered successful mission-critical products.
  • Expertise in C++, Linux, working and cyber-security.
  • Strong experience in systems development.
  • Strong in solving complex problems and demonstrated ability to adapt, proactive and a positive influence to the rest of the team.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to the target audience.
  • Expertise in developing software using Scrum methodology.
  • Demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong experience with architecting, designing and implementing medical device software.
  • Experience writing software for embedded systems that interface with sensors.
  • Strong experience with development of work protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, OpenSSL) and cybersecurity.
