About the position

As a Principal Software Engineer at Medtronic, you will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of the Robotic Assisted Surgery platform. This position involves leading software design, development, and testing efforts for surgical instruments, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and regulatory standards. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to define software behavior and contribute to the overall mission of improving healthcare access and equity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software in Simulink and C++ for the Robotic Assisted Surgery platform.
• Develop requirements with a cross-functional team to define software behavior.
• Triage defects and develop software unit tests.
• Analyze software for failure modes and develop risk mitigation solutions.
• Contribute updates to software documentation and architecture.
• Improve software quality through design reviews and compliance with quality management procedures.
• Participate in Agile Scrum team activities, including sprint planning and backlog management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of computer science, including embedded systems and operating systems.
• Experience developing software in C/C++ with object-oriented and functional programming.
• Experience with Simulink, Stateflow, and Simulink Coder.
• Familiarity with software development tools on Linux, including Bash, CMake, unit testing, and Git.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
