We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related Engineering field. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries. Our Software Engineers work in an agile, collective environment. You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. These cover a very wide range of advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft systems. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle. Specifically, your role will include technical management of major mission systems subcontractors. Responsibilities

  • Technical management of major mission systems subcontractors.
  • Define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products.
  • Architect complex integrated software systems spanning multiple SCIs.
  • Manage software development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Analyze complex technical requirements and translate them into actionable project plans and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline.
  • Typically 14 or more years of relevant experience in software development.
  • Strong technical background in software development, including proficiency in programming languages, software architecture, and development methodologies.
  • Experience in working with distributed teams and managing subcontractors or vendors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques, such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or Waterfall.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical requirements and translate them into actionable project plans and deliverables.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, such as code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Several years of experience in managing software development projects, preferably in a subcontractor or outsourcing context.
  • Experience with embedded systems and designing & developing software that interacts with hardware.
  • Experience with DO-178/MIL-STD-882 and applicable Design Assurance Level (DAL) certifications.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
