About the position

The Principal Software Engineering Manager for the Windows Cloud Platform Team will lead initiatives to enhance the Windows Cloud platform, including Windows 365 Cloud PC and Azure Virtual Desktop. This role involves driving software improvements, collaborating with various engineering teams, and mentoring a diverse group of engineers. The position requires a strong focus on cloud computing, desktop virtualization, and service reliability, with an emphasis on delivering high-quality service offerings that meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and drive software improvements to enhance site reliability and fundamentals for Windows Cloud services.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to provide a holistic view of Windows Cloud services.
• Drive quality releases to exceed customer expectations on service metrics.
• Lead the design and implementation of telemetry, alerting, self-healing, and automation capabilities to improve service health and reliability.
• Mentor and grow a team of software engineers and site reliability engineers.
• Collaborate with internal partner teams such as Azure Compute and Microsoft Security and Identity.
• Provide leadership for the architecture of secure, distributed, scalable, and resilient micro-services.
• Maintain a data-driven culture and nurture a high-performance team.

Requirements

• Experience in software development and scalable system design.
• Expertise in cloud computing and desktop virtualization technologies.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and grow engineering teams.
• Experience with Azure or other cloud infrastructure services at scale.
• Ability to drive consensus across various stakeholders.
