About the position

The Principal Software Engineering Manager for the Window Cloud Platform Team will lead the development and enhancement of the Window Cloud platform, including Window 365 Cloud PC and Azure Virtual Desktop. This role involves demonstrating leadership in both business and technology, focusing on cloud computing, desktop virtualization, and streaming technologies. The manager will work within an agile team to design new platform capabilities and ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive software improvements using expertise in software development and scalable system design.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams to provide a holistic view of Window Cloud services.
  • Drive quality releases to surpass customer expectations on service metrics.
  • Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end telemetry, alerting, self-healing, and automation capabilities to improve service health and reliability.
  • Mentor and help grow a diverse team of software engineers and site reliability engineers.
  • Collaborate with internal partner teams such as Azure Compute, Core OS, Security, and Identity teams.
  • Provide leadership for the architecture of secure, distributed, scalable, and resilient microservices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer/leader designing, implementing, and shipping cloud services or software products.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.

  • Experience with distributed systems delivering large-scale, secure, and resilient cloud services.
  • Demonstrated experience working across teams to deliver shared solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience with Service Management, Operations, and Support.
  • Experience managing stakeholder and partner relationships to influence collaboration and innovation.
  • Strong software development design, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
