About the position

The Principal Software Engineering Manager will lead a team responsible for the Azure Edge+Platform, which encompasses Operating Systems, IoT, and Edge products. This role is pivotal in ensuring the scalability, sustainability, and success of the program while fostering a culture of growth, diversity, and inclusion. The manager will oversee engineering managers and engineers, driving the execution of projects that significantly impact results and contribute to the company's mission of empowering individuals and organizations globally.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineering managers and engineers to build scalable services while championing a growth mindset, diversity, and inclusion.
• Manage delivery success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring.
• Oversee partnerships with stakeholders to determine user requirements across teams for multiple solutions or product lines.
• Incorporate continuous feedback loops measuring customer value, usage patterns, and other actionable metrics of value.
• Influence and hold ownership of design decisions for the overall system architecture of complex products/solutions.
• Write design documents and user stories, determining the technology to be leveraged and how they will interact.
• Lead design discussions with the team and share findings from investigations, owning design decisions.
• Provide technical and people leadership to ensure system architecture meets security and compliance requirements.
• Optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability.
• Lead the resolution of complex incidents and oversee the work of other engineers across product lines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice-to-haves

• 4+ years of people management experience
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
