About the position

As a Principal Software Scrum Master at Raytheon, you will play a crucial role in leading agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions for classified programs. This position involves close collaboration with leadership and product owners to prioritize development tasks, facilitate sprint planning, and ensure effective communication across teams. You will also engage in hands-on software development, contributing to innovative technologies that support national defense.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with IPT Leadership, Product Owner, and other Scrum Masters to de-conflict IPT Development priorities and resolve cross-IPT issues.
  • Lead sprint and increment planning, facilitating cross-team and cross-discipline coordination and communication.
  • Act for the IPT Leadership in coordination with the Product Owner to plan development increments and software builds.
  • Design and develop software at least 50% of the time when not performing scrum master duties.
  • Work with talented teams of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Agile metrics such as backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Software development experience using Java, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Understanding of software engineering processes and best practices.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner).
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design.
  • Experience guiding agile teams on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver high quality software.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Development, and automated test.
  • Experience with satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics models.
