About the position

The Principal Software Test Engineer in Cloud/NGFW Security at Palo Alto Networks is responsible for validating core networking and security features within a fast-paced QA team. This role involves working on innovative technologies in the Layer 4-7 domain, collaborating with multi-functional teams to solve complex problems, and contributing to the end-to-end product validation process. The position emphasizes leadership, ownership, and continuous improvement in QA processes, while also mentoring new team members.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a small and fast-paced team to solve important customer problems and deliver impactful results.
  • Contribute in all phases of end-to-end product and solution validation.
  • Collaborate with different development and quality assurance groups to achieve the best quality.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to the QA process.
  • Work with DevOps and Technical Support teams to troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Interview, mentor, and coach new team members.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in QA Automation Engineering.
  • Strong automation/programming experience in Python.
  • Working knowledge and experience with TCP/IP and application layer protocols (HTTP/HTTPS/SMTP, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience testing network and/or other security products.
  • Experience with various Linux platform testing and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to build and maintain complex networking testbeds.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent QA skills employing test frameworks, commercial test sets, home-grown tools, and automated testing.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or other cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins is desirable.
  • Graduate degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline or equivalent military experience required.
