About the position

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a seasoned and accomplished QA/Automation engineer to join our Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) group. This role is pivotal in validating core networking and security features within our QA team. As part of a world-class software test engineering team, you will engage with cutting-edge technologies such as Cloud Identity, Data Loss Prevention, Post-quantum cryptography, and IoT Security, specifically in the Layer 4-7 domain. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively with a multi-functional team of engineers to tackle complex problems in L4-7 security. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who possess intellectual curiosity and a passion for solving intricate challenges with creativity and determination. Ownership and leadership in your area of focus are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively and work towards common goals with diverse teams. In this role, you will contribute to all phases of end-to-end product and solution validation, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. You will collaborate with various development and quality assurance groups to enhance the QA process, troubleshoot customer issues alongside DevOps and Technical Support teams, and play a key role in mentoring and coaching new team members. Your impact will be significant as you work within a small, agile team to deliver impactful results that address important customer problems.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a small and fast-paced team to solve important customer problems and deliver impactful results.
  • Contribute in all phases of end-to-end product and solution validation.
  • Collaborate with different development and quality assurance groups to achieve the best quality.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to the QA process.
  • Work with DevOps and Technical Support teams to troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Interview, mentor, and coach new team members.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline, or equivalent military experience required.
  • 10+ years of experience in QA Automation Engineering.
  • Strong automation/programming experience in Python.
  • Working knowledge and experience with TCP/IP and application layer protocols (HTTP/HTTPS/SMTP, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience testing network and/or other security products.
  • Experience with various Linux platform testing and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to build and maintain complex networking testbeds.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent QA skills employing test frameworks, commercial test sets, home-grown tools, and automated testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GCP, AWS, or other cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
