About the position

As a Principal Solutions Consultant at Rocket Software, you will play a pivotal role in the Application Modernization and Connectivity division. This hands-on position involves designing, architecting, and implementing solutions that facilitate customers' digital transformation and mainframe modernization efforts. You will be responsible for addressing complex technical challenges, establishing best practices, and setting standards for modernizing legacy mainframe environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement strategies for moving mainframes/applications to distributed and/or cloud environments.
  • Embrace enterprise-wide DevOps practices to enhance application delivery speed.
  • Assist customers and systems integrators in designing scalable, high-availability application solutions using Micro Focus products.
  • Provide technical leadership in collaboration with customer business, development, and infrastructure teams.
  • Create proof of concept technology analyses and pilots.
  • Conduct customer and internal presentations/trainings for peer groups.
  • Offer architectural guidance and recommendations to ensure successful customer engagements globally.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience leading mainframe and legacy modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of major cloud provider infrastructures and technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience analyzing on-premises mainframe applications and processes for modernization planning.
  • Relevant business and IT architecture certifications (e.g., AWS Solution Architect Professional, Microsoft Azure Solution Architect, SAFe).
  • Hands-on technical experience with mainframe and non-x86 legacy systems, including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 for z/OS, Assembler, PL/I, Rexx, and VSAM.
  • Experience in designing/architecting distributed and cloud environments, including OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of web services, microservices, APIs, and application component exposure to alternate platforms.
