About the position

The Principal Specialist, FP&A at Collins Aerospace is responsible for providing financial reporting and analysis for the Advanced Structures - Propeller Systems business. This hybrid role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Program Management, and Finance, to support both OEM and Aftermarket business segments in the aerospace industry. The position requires a strong focus on financial planning, analysis, and continuous improvement of key processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, analyzing, and consolidating engineering and program management spend from various sources.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Program Management leads to accurately forecast future spend and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Creating and maintaining engineering Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Compiling monthly intercompany invoicing for engineering support activities.
  • Performing monthly financial closing and forecast activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting in cash collections assurance by providing timely and accurate accounts receivable reporting and analysis.
  • Supporting the Long-Range Plan and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process as needed.
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvements of key processes.
  • Supporting a compliant controls environment, participating in SOX and ACA audits as required.
  • Providing ad-hoc assistance, analysis, and reporting as requested by management and team.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to government contractual requirements.
  • Experience in using SAP and HFM / OneStream or similar systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V-Lookups.
  • Experience performing Financial Planning and Analysis concepts and processes, including revenue, earnings, and cash flow forecasting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and develop reports to drive solutions and process improvements.
  • Creative problem-solving skills for complex process and systems changes.
  • Experience with other Business Objects / BI tools would be an asset.
  • Aerospace industry experience.
