About the position

The Principal Network Engineer or Senior Principal Network Engineer at Northrop Grumman will be responsible for designing and planning network communication systems within the Payload and Ground Systems Division. This role involves providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, troubleshooting network faults in a LAN/WAN environment, and evaluating new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work collaboratively or independently to ensure mission success.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan network communication systems.
• Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
• Troubleshoot and isolate network faults and failures in a LAN/WAN environment.
• Provide detailed information for hardware and software selections and implementation techniques.
• Conduct testing of network design.
• Maintain technical expertise in network and software interconnections, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Evaluate and report on new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ years for Principal Network Engineer.
• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years for Senior Principal Network Engineer.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and polygraph.
• Security+ certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with LAN/WAN and OSPF/BGP/EIGRP.
• Knowledge of firewall hardware and software administration.
