About the position

The Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Network at Northrop Grumman is responsible for the research, design, development, integration, and testing of various network equipment and systems. This role involves providing detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementing efficient solutions to meet business needs, and maintaining technical expertise in network hardware and software. The position requires collaboration with program managers and IPT management to report network status and ensure effective integration and testing of systems.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, development, integration, and testing of network equipment and systems.
  • Integrate and test software and/or hardware systems in complex IT systems.
  • Report network status to Program Managers and IPT Management.
  • Plan, coordinate, and document network-related activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university AND 4 years of Engineering or related experience OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of Engineering or related experience OR a PhD AND 0 years of experience required.
  • Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher granted/renewed within the past 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
  • Experience designing and maintaining network routing and switching systems.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining network information and event management systems (e.g. ISE, Splunk, Solarwinds, Nagios).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university.
  • Active, In-Scope, DOD Top Secret Security Clearance or higher granted/renewed within the past 6 years.
  • Working knowledge of network security devices (e.g. firewall, IDS, IPS) and software-defined architectures (e.g. Cisco ACI).
  • Working knowledge of Virtualization (e.g. VMware).
  • Solid programming/scripting skills in languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Ansible.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and Container networking.
