About the position

The Principal/Sr Principal Systems Engineer role at Northrop Grumman involves working within the Payload and Ground Systems division to support the Integrated National Systems Business Unit. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering, particularly in integration and testing, and is focused on developing and maintaining system requirements, verification methods, and software deployment. The role emphasizes collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and requires a commitment to ethics and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining requirements
  • Updating and creating verification/validation methods
  • Creating diagrams in Cameo
  • Software baseline deployment
  • Testing and troubleshooting the environment
  • Reading error logs
  • Coordinating corrections with the development team
  • Working with the Command-and-Control team to develop software
  • Creation of test plans, test procedures, and test automation
  • Writing documentation and executing integration test activities

Requirements

  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance
  • Willingness to submit to a polygraph
  • Completed STEM degree with relevant experience in systems engineering
  • 5 years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (Principal level)
  • 8 years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (Senior Principal level)
  • Experience with Software Baseline Integration
  • Experience with test planning and documentation
  • Understanding of Automated Testing Framework
  • Experience with developing and refactoring code in C++
  • Experience with MATLAB, Visio, Cameo, and the Atlassian tool suite
  • Basic understanding of Java or Python
  • Familiarity working in a Linux environment
  • Understanding of basic docker concepts

Nice-to-haves

  • Positively adjudicated polygraph within the last 10 years
  • Proficient in Kubernetes
  • Proficient with using Git for source code management
  • Ability to debug and problem solve when things don't work out of the box
  • Experience working in a cross-functional agile team
  • Experience with MBSE, Visio, Cameo, JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket
  • Experience with Satellite Ground SW system and verification
  • Experience with Gherkin, Cucumber, Zephyr
