About the position

The Principal/Sr Principal Technical Services Project Manager at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading a Value Stream Element Team (VSET) at the Promontory, UT facility. This role involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of a product family, ensuring that all engineering and processing disciplines are effectively integrated to deliver high-quality products that meet customer requirements. The position emphasizes leadership in testing and research activities across various program phases, with a focus on safety, performance, and cost management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all activities associated with a product family within the value stream.
  • Deliver a product family through overall ownership and accountability of the product's value stream element.
  • Manage acceptance of requirements, product and process design, planning generation, product manufacture, inspection, acceptance, testing, and delivery to the downstream customer.
  • Work closely with functional organizations to effectively staff the team as required.
  • Ensure effective concurrent engineering through oversight and integration of all engineering and processing disciplines.
  • Request, acquire, and manage resources within a matrix organization to accomplish value stream goals.
  • Focus on design, manufacture, and testing of a defect-free, highest value product that satisfies customer requirements.
  • Manage financial performance of the value stream and its functional organizations, including tracking and approval of change requests.
  • Initiate and lead value enhancement and waste elimination efforts utilizing lean principles for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with other VSET leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (aerospace, chemical, electrical, mechanical, material sciences engineering, or physics) required.
  • An advanced degree in engineering is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience with a BS or 3 years with an MS.
  • 8 years of experience with a BS or 6 years with an MS for higher level positions.
  • Experience in engineering, program management, production, safety, and/or mission assurance roles.
