About the position
The Principal Syndication Loan Closing Associate - Team Lead at Capital One is responsible for managing a team that supports the closing process for commercial loans, particularly in niche industries. This role involves overseeing loan closing operations, ensuring compliance with loan requirements, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and develop team members while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 5 Senior Associate Loan Closers
- Provide coaching and feedback to associates to promote continuous growth
- Maintain closing pipeline report and provide status updates to management
- Work to tight deadlines and meet demands of multiple stakeholders
- Influence individuals to accomplish objectives
- Review new opportunities with RM and Underwriter to identify adverse impacts on closing processes
- Coordinate and verify documentation from external counsel and other parties
- Ensure compliance with loan requirements and proper documentation
- Manage the schedule for loan closing and ensure timely completion of tasks
- Resolve issues that arise during the closing process
- Provide authorization for closing and approve booking and funding instructions
- Maintain close communication with all parties for proper settlement
- Monitor exception reporting and resolve cash reconciliation outages
- Assist in drafting operational incident reports and partner with Commercial Risk on root cause analysis.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
- At least 3 years of Commercial Loan Agent Syndication experience
- At least 1 year of People Leadership experience
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
- 2+ years of People Leadership experience
- 2+ years experience with Sponsor (Private Equity) backed Closings and Legal documentation
- 4+ years of Commercial Loan Booking or Commercial Loan Servicing experience
- 4+ years of Loan Syndication experience
- 3+ years of experience with ACBS
