About the position

The Senior Level Linux Network Administrator is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of classified and unclassified MDDC Program systems and networks. This role requires a strong background in Linux system administration and the ability to ensure IT systems are fully functional for all operational activities. The position involves collaboration with various teams to implement requirements and provide technical expertise while maintaining compliance with MDA and DoD guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and administer classified and unclassified MDDC Program systems and networks.
  • Ensure IT systems are fully functional for operational and support activities.
  • Provide Linux system administration support for hardware in support of the MDDC Program.
  • Work with existing Linux installations and build new systems as needed.
  • Collaborate with vendors to support current Linux-based software installations and maintain compliance.
  • Work closely with Program Management, Information Assurance, software development, and end-users to implement requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support with technical expertise related to MDDC Program IT processes and operations.
  • Anticipate IT-related issues and implement proactive preventive measures.
  • Develop, sustain, and update documentation for IT processes and procedures.
  • Perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries.
  • Maintain IT databases and perform light programming tasks as needed.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new IT systems technologies to support MDDC Program requirements.
  • Lead, train, and support junior staff engaged in system administration functions.
  • Assist with maintenance and processes related to Government Furnished Equipment/Government Furnished Property (GFE/GFP).
  • Maintain inventory and organization of software and hardware resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical discipline.
  • Fifteen (15) years+ of experience in a related field (an additional four (4) years experience may substitute for the degree).
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification required.
  • Working knowledge of Linux Administration, LAN and WAN technologies, and network protocols (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, SMB).
  • Proven ability to multi-task and operate in a dynamic enterprise environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in RHEL and CentOS.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with solid data entry skills.
  • Ability to provide examples of being proactive and taking initiative in daily responsibilities.
  • Strong customer responsiveness and ability to interact with all levels of the customer base.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of MDA Test Activities.
